Visit to a steel factory at midnight

Recently I got an opportunity to visit one steel factory; it was totally a different world of experience. We spent nearly 4 hours in the factory 12.00 AM  to early morning 4 am. Here I am just trying to explain the steel making process from my understanding.

The whole process starts with scrap; they have a big warehouse for scrap. When the scrap arrive from various sources the do segregate the scrap on the basis of , which content is more in this lot (contents means manganese , silicon, carbon- these are the basic components of steel). Once segregate they keep all these lot separate.

Metal Scrap and electro magnet

Sponge iron is another major component of steel making. The ratio mostly 60% sponge iron and 40 scrap.

SPONGE IRON

Next important thing you need is the furnace here I am showing the induction furnace.

Induction Furnace

Now the process once the induction furnace is on, they put the scrap and sponge iron and other components into it. After sometimes due the immense temperature  components  start to melt.

Putting scrap into Induction furnace with the help of Electro Magnet

During this time they remove the stag whenever it forms (stag is nothing else other than a waste which have no use)

Slag removing from the furnace

During the melting process two to three time the samples send to the labs to check the quality according to the report they add the components for example if manganese is less they will add the scrap which have more manganese which segregated before.

Once the melting process is over the liquid metal pour into a big ladle

And the laddle transfer near to Billet making machine and pour the liquid metal into it

Pouring into billet making machine

And last billets are coming out from the machine

Billets are coming out from the machine

Billets which is ready to use

Hope you understood something about the steel making process……. hope itsnt completelly nonsense :)

Worship in the middle of the Road

It’s really funny to see using public road for temple activities. I saw this near to nandanam Ext, these guys put fire in the middle of the road and diverting the traffic during the peak time. It’s relatively a small temple but the police allowing all these activities. Strange :(

Am I sadist?

Hope I am not, but I only did this but tat doesn’t means that I killed this butterfly. I got these wings from my office terrace. So thought of doing something interesting. But once I have done and showed to others they are looking suspiciously..like you are a sadist or murderer……………Trust me I didn’t kill him/her.
